What is SEO writing? – The process of writing with the goal of ranking on the first page of a search engine. This can be achieved by researching relevant keywords and creating optimized content that can answer users’ queries.

1.      Write for humans, not for search engines- The user searches on Google to find out an answer. The best way to improve the chances of ranking your content is by writing high-quality content that can answer the user quickly and in a specific way.

 

2.      Optimize your content for PAA- PAA (People Also Ask) also called Featured Snippets, Google directly answers the search queries. To earn a PAA on Google, you’ll need to answer the question thoroughly and succinctly.

The keyword that you want to capture in the featured snippet requires a definition that is not more than 58 words. Start the sentence with an actionable word like “click” and “select”.

 

3.      Mention keywords in meta description- Meta description allow the search engine to display a short description of the content you created.

You can use a title tag that will be displayed as the title of the page. This should be short (about 70 characters).

The meta description should be under 160 words.

 

4.      Add alt text to images- Alt text is known as ‘alt attributes’ or ‘alt description’ and it is used within HTML code to describe the appearance and function. The alt text describes what is happening in the image it helps search engines to understand why the photo exists in your post.

Alt text will be displayed in the place of an image if the image is not loaded.

 

5.      Turn your topic into a keyword- Keyword research is the most important part of the SEO writing process. You can use different keyword research tools like Google keyword planner, Ahrefs, Google trends, and more. Keep in mind that the most obvious keywords don’t always align to your with your content strategy.

To avoid missing out on the vital ranking opportunities, you need to focus on research on trending keywords.

 

6.      Avoid keyword stuffing- Keyword stuffing is an unhealthy practice of excessively filling a webpage with random keywords to rank higher in search results.

To stop keyword stuffing you need to assign a primary keyword to your website, that’s what your website is all about. You can create longer but relevant content.

 

7.      Link to reputed websites- Linking your content with reputed websites offers readers additional material and it also shows search engines that your content is well researched.

 

8.      Create longer posts- Google prefers longer in-depth posts. The more content on the page, the more clues search engine figure out what your post is about.

Keep in mind the post should be scannable. You can use bullet points to grab more attention from the user.

 

9.      Link other posts to your website- It helps to create an accurate sitemap for your website and also helps readers to discover more of your content. It makes your website more trustworthy and a credible source of knowledge to the readers.

Avoid using spammy call-to-action links such as “click here” or “best cheapest iPhones”.

 

10.  Compress the images- To reduce page loading time you should compress the images, it will improve the user’s experience. An image size over 100KB can drastically impact your page speed.
